Sky News to Launch Brexit-Free pop-up channel

Last night Sky News launched their new Brexit-free pop-up news channel.

The channel is called 'Sky News Brexit-Free' and is on air on Sky channel 523 from 5pm to 10pm Monday to Friday.

Sky News will still continue to cover Brexit news on the main channel, as well as other big stories.

Their reasoning behind this is a study, that was released this summer, which found that a third of people are avoiding the news entirely.

With more than 70% of them blamed Brexit, saying the political debate surrounding Brexit was too frustrating to watch.

Nearly 60% said the news is having a negative impact on their mood.

The head of Sky News, John Ryley, said: 'Sky News Brexit-Free is a bold approach but listening to public opinion over the past weeks and months, it's something we know our viewers will find valuable.

'Brexit is an historic story that has a major impact and we will continue to give it comprehensive coverage.

'The new channel simply gives people the option to take a break from Brexit, apply a filter to their headlines, and hear about issues away from Westminster and Brussels with a focus on hard-hitting, original journalism. '

This new channel will undoubtedly divide opinion, but with news on Brexit seeming never ending will this encourage more media outlets to follow suit?
